Sul Sul!
This is Jess talking.
I am a survivor from the "Queen Solomon" shipwreck.
It's about time you come to rescue me!
No, but I'm fine.
I've found this lovely hut in a shady lagoon,
and my orangutan Waiata is nice company.
I still feel lonely though, and well, I'm single...
... alright, so that doesn't interest you.
Alright.
And I guess you won't come to my rescue so soon,
would you?
Well then, I guess it's time to explore more of this island
I've washed up on.
Oh look! An ancient shrine!
That altar looks perfect to hold "Spaulding",
my idol friend that once tried to kill me.
Bye-bye, Spaulding.
Time to go explore even more.
Rescue could be just behind those giant doors.
But...
what's this?
"You came to rescue us!"
"Have you brought food?"
"Or video games?"
"Or a phone?"
"Where's the helicopter?"
Sorry pals, I'm just another survivor of the shipwreck...
"Oh. Too bad."
Their shelter is bigger than mine,
but they haven't got a raft.
I guess it's time to talk to them a bit.
I start with the younger generation.
Robby thinks building a raft is "too much stress" and wants me to pull his finger. Duh.
The girl, Emma, asks me if I can see her bones already, and seems infatuated with Robby.
The adult girls are not very focused on survival either.
While Gina just hopes they'd rescue us fast to get home in time for the Garden Club meeting,
and is surprised when I ask her why they didn't get coconuts for food
(and thinks they're too high up anyway - rather be comfy and starve, eh?),
Sandra tells me an elderly professor has been bringing them food from his
journeys into the jungle. I wonder where he is.
The adult male, Hugh, is just a huge douchebag, sorry to say.
He thinks he rules this place, and he's not worried at all about the professor.
Well, I guess it's me going to search for him, then.
I arrive at a swamp, but professor Rhinehart is not here.
A cemetery of bones.
Could that be the professor over there?
Indeed he is.
And he seems very nice.
He applauds my decision to take rescue into my own hands
and build a raft. He'd love to help me find something I could use
as a mast. He tells me of a sort of pole. Well... that could work.
"Pick up that bone over there", he says,
"and follow me."
I have no idea why, but I do what he says.
We arrive at a crossroads.
Good lord, is that a leopard over there?
But it seems peaceful.
Either way, they don't seem to like goats here...
"Don't worry, honey", Rhinehart says.
"Just get the pole."
When I do, he excuses himself,
saying he must bring food to the others and
that he will soon find me at the raft.
How... but he promises "I'll find you, don't worry."
Rhinehart keeps word.
Right after I've attached the pole safely to my raft, he appears from the jungle.
That was fast.
I tell him it's still missing a sail. Professor Rhinehart says he'll think of something.
I want to thank him, so I propose making him some dinner at my lagoon hut.
But when we arrive there... WHAT THE HELL?!?
The others have just taken over my hut! As if it were their own!
I've had enough.
Professor Rhinehart calms me.
"We could still need their help some day, sweetie.
Better be polite.
But don't tell them about the raft..."
So I decide to be polite and even offer to make dinner for everyone.
My offer is very eagerly accepted.
It seems they are all half-starved.
Soon everyone is shoveling as if they haven't had anything proper for a week.
Which might be true.
Rhinehart excuses himself after dinner to go exploring the ruins some more.
He says he'll be back soon.
As I proceed to clean up plates,
I notice Waiata seems to get along quite well among "the others".
Well, I guess sooner or later I'd have to get to know them better as well.
Maybe they are not so bad.
But Robby can't stop pressing me to pull his finger,
Emma is hysterical about Robby,
Sandra is preoccupied about her garden at home also turning into a jungle,
Hugh just worries about the money
(and thinks you could turn this island into a tourist magnet,
but you need money to make money),
and Gina... well, Gina.
Maybe they are not so bad.
Maybe.
But I still hate them for taking over my quiet lagoon.
Rhinehart is back late at night,
telling me that maybe I could weave a sail out of tall grass.
That could really work as a solution!
But where to get grass?
"I know of Scavenger Fields", Rhinehart says.
"Try there."
Late at night, the others having invaded my hut,
I decide Rhinehart is right.
Let's go explore Scavenger Fields.
Most of the tall grass seems to have been taken already,
but I won't need much.
Good that I still have my machete.
Suddenly I hear the cries of a girl,
who runs across the fields, chased by hungry hyenas.
She manages to escape them by climbing a tree,
but now she is up there and needs my help...
Good thing I still carry that bone Rhinehart told me to pick up!
I throw it for the hyenas.
One makes off with it,
and the others follow close.
The girl is safe and can climb down.
She presents herself as Nanihi, daughter of the chief...
wait, what?
Oh my gosh...
I think I just got into my first contact with the indigenous people of this island.
Nanihi runs off telling me to follow her into her village.
"Normally outsiders are not welcome", she says,
"but I'm sure father would like to thank you!"
Should I really follow her to a village of strangers?
Island inhabitants?
Of course I will.
What could possibly happen?
Right?
Right?!?
